July 4th, 2009

This July 4th our friends invited us to spend the day on their boat crab and fish fishing (fishing for crab as well as fishing for regular fish) and then later to their friend's house to watch fireworks. Josh has been excited to get Dan into saltwater fishing. Dan isn't much of a fisherman, but after checking with all of his friends and a lot of convincing by Josh, Dan decided that saltwater fishing might be worth a try. His first catch was really nothing to brag over... in fact, we might have kept it to use for bait. His second catch was pretty cool.... he caught a little shark! We didn't keep that though.

We had a lot of fun. We started the day boating and crabbing near Gig Harbor and ended the day up near Seattle, which is where Dan caught his shark. It was right near Baker Island, where they do the Tillicum salmon feed/Native American show thing. Then we headed back to Gig Harbor, then drove to Manchester, which is across the water from Seattle for a BBQ and fireworks. Missy Jo's friend has an absolutely beautiful home with a nice deck that overlooks the water, so we had an amazing view of all the fireworks in the area. It was a great day.

This was Easton's second 4th of July. Dan and I were excited because we thought he'd be all excited over the fireworks. He wasn't. Didn't even care. A few times he would look at them and clap, but generally he was much more into the toys. Oh well. Maybe next year.

Oh, and on a totally unrelated note, Easton has started taking 3 hour naps. Oh, 3 hour naps.... is there anything better?????
